Solar Panel Installation
in San Miguel de Allende
San Miguel gets over 300 days of sun a year — let us put it to work. We design, permit, and install residential solar end to end, handle the CFE interconnection for you, and get your electricity bill back under control.
Why It Matters in SMA
Why your CFE bill keeps climbing.
If your electricity bill has jumped and never come back down, there is a good chance CFE has moved you onto the DAC tariff. It is the single biggest electricity cost most San Miguel homeowners face — and most never see it coming.
Solar cuts the grid power you draw during the day — keeping your consumption down and your home off DAC.
The DAC Trap
Why Solar Here
San Miguel was made for solar.
Few places convert sunlight into savings as well as San Miguel — and colonial homes happen to have exactly the right rooftops for it.
300+ days of sun
San Miguel sees sunshine almost all year. That is a great deal of free energy landing on your roof, every single day.
High-altitude advantage
At 1,900m, thinner air means stronger, more direct sunlight — panels here produce more than the same panels near sea level.
Flat azotea rooftops
Colonial homes have flat rooftop terraces — ideal for panel placement, with parapet walls that keep the array out of sight from the street.
A bill you control
Once solar covers your daytime use, your CFE bill becomes predictable — and the DAC trap stops being a threat hanging over you.
What We Do
Solar, handled end to end.
From the first assessment to the day CFE switches on your bidirectional meter — one team, one accountable process.
Energy Assessment
We study your real consumption and CFE history to size a system that genuinely matches how your home uses power.
System Design
A panel layout engineered for your roof, your shading, and your goals — with production you can count on.
CFE Permits & Interconnection
We handle the paperwork and the interconnection contract with CFE — including your bidirectional net-metering meter.
Professional Installation
Mounting, wiring, and inverter setup done cleanly and safely on your azotea — respecting your roof and your facade.
Monitoring & Performance
See what your system produces in real time, so you know your investment is working hard every single day.
Battery-Ready Design
Want power that survives outages too? We design your solar so a backup battery can be added now or later.
Our Process
Clear Steps. Zero Surprises.
The same process we use on every job — explained in English, documented in writing.
WhatsApp Us
Send us a recent CFE bill and tell us about your home. We reply the same day — your bill tells us most of what we need.
Free Solar Assessment
We review your consumption and visit the property to check your roof, shading, and electrical setup. No charge, no obligation.
Design & Written Quote
You receive a system design and an itemized quote in English — production estimate, timeline, and exactly what it covers.
Installation & Interconnection
We install the system and manage the full CFE interconnection — you never chase a single government office yourself.
Switch-On & Sign-Off
Your bidirectional meter goes live, we confirm production, and walk you through monitoring your savings.
Solar + Backup
Solar by day. Power through the blackout.
Solar lowers your bill — but on its own, it still goes dark when CFE does. Pair it with a backup battery and your home runs on sunlight stored from the day. We design both together, as one system.

Frequently Asked
Solar FAQ
How much can solar save me on my CFE bill?
It depends on how much power you use and whether you are on — or near — the DAC tariff. Homes on DAC see the biggest and fastest savings. We model your specific case directly from a recent CFE bill, so the estimate is real, not generic.
What is the CFE DAC tariff?
DAC (Doméstica de Alto Consumo) is CFE’s high-consumption tariff. Normal residential rates are subsidized, but once your consumption stays above a limit for several months, CFE removes the subsidy and moves you to DAC — where every kilowatt-hour costs far more.
How do I get off the DAC tariff?
You have to bring your grid consumption down and keep it down for a sustained period. Solar does exactly that — it covers your daytime usage so the power you draw from CFE drops below the limit.
Does solar really work well in San Miguel de Allende?
Exceptionally well. SMA gets over 300 days of sun a year, and at 1,900m of altitude the sunlight is stronger and more direct — panels here produce more than the same panels near sea level.
How does interconnection with CFE work?
CFE installs a bidirectional meter. During the day your panels power the home and any excess flows to the grid as credit; at night you draw from the grid against that credit. We handle the entire interconnection process for you.
Do you handle the CFE permits and paperwork?
Yes — end to end. We manage the interconnection contract and the bidirectional meter request so you never have to navigate a CFE office yourself.
Can I put solar panels on a colonial home or in Centro Histórico?
Yes. Colonial homes have flat azotea rooftops that are ideal for panels, and their parapet walls keep the array out of sight from the street — which also respects Centro Histórico visual guidelines.
Do I need batteries with solar?
No — batteries are optional. Solar alone lowers your bill. A battery adds protection during blackouts by storing daytime sun for later. We can design your system battery-ready so you can add one now or in the future.
How long until solar pays for itself?
It varies by system size and your consumption — homes on the DAC tariff see the fastest payback by far. Once we review your CFE bill, we give you a realistic estimate for your specific home.
Do solar panels need maintenance?
Very little. The main thing is occasional cleaning, since SMA’s dry climate leaves dust on the panels that reduces output. We can include scheduled cleaning so your system keeps producing at its best.
